Juki MO-2800 Serger Details

This 2/3/4 thread overlocker is a top-of-the-line machine with a durable, sturdy design that produces seven types of stitches. It features air threading technology, adjustable differential feed, easy rolled hemming, a new knee lifting lever, and the Juki exclusive tweak width adjustment. Also included is the all-new curve foot and a general-purpose foot that is equipped with a tape guide. With all the features packed into MO-2800, you can create professionally finished-looking edges on garments, blankets, home decor projects, and more. Stitching up to 1500 stitches per minute, the MO-2800 can handle most fabrics with ease. Air Threading
Anyone who has a serger knows the hardest thing to do is thread it, so Juki has built-in air threading for the upper and lower looper threads. Using this feature, you can easily thread your MO-2800 from the threading hole to the looper with the power of a woosh of air from the electric motor. This useful function makes it fast and easy when threading your loopers.
2-/3- Thread Conversion
Switching to 2- to 3-thread sewing is simpler than ever on the MO-2800; all you have to do is push the 2-/3-thread changeover attachment to the left. This feature is convenient for carrying out 2-needle overlocking, cover stitch (flatlock), or 2-thread hemming.
ADJUSTABLE PRESSER FOOT HEIGHT & PRESSURE
The MO-2800 features a higher presser foot height to handle thicker and loftier fabric effortlessly. You can raise the presser foot up to 8mm (approx. 5/16") with the hand lifter and 6mm (approx 1/4") with the knee lifter. Also on the machine is adjustable presser foot pressure. The presser foot pressure has been preset at the factory and rarely needs adjustment. However, you may find it necessary to decrease the pressure for thick fabrics or increase the pressure for thin materials to feed more smoothly under the foot.
Snap-on Foot Compatible
Easily go from one presser foot to the next on Juki's MO-2800; no screwdriver is required! This overlock machine makes it easy to swap between your included and optional presser feet.
Tweak Width Adjustment (TWA)
The overlocking width is set in conjunction with the adjustment of the lower knife position. It is also possible to finely adjust the overlocking width separately. *If the excess thread or material curling cannot be corrected with the "lower knife position" or "overlocking width adjustment," or if you want to adjust the texture of the seam minutely, adjust the upper/lower looper thread tension dial.
Knee Lifter
Take control of your fabric with the help of the included knee lifter on the MO-2800. This hands-free option allows you to move the presser up or down without using your hands. This attachment is easy to install and comes in handy when pivoting fabric. Be careful you don't accidentally touch the knee-lifting lever during sewing. If you press it, your foot will go up and ruin your seams.
Magnetic Needle Tray
Keep track of your needle when changing from two-needle sewing to one-needle sewing or when swapping out old needles for new ones. Juki's Mo-2800 has two magnetic needle trays, one on each side of the tension dial. These handy little trays can also hold pins as you remove them from your fabric while you serge.
Curve Foot
On this serger, the distance between the knife and the needle is 9.95 mm, which is the industry's smallest level of the kife-to-needle distance. With the included curve foot, you can easily serge curved pieces of material smoothly and produce beautifully finished seams.
Automatic Needle Threader
The automatic needle threader easily threads both your right and left needle without eyestrain and allows you to start sewing quickly. No need to squint or search the old-fashioned needle threads; this machine does it for you. Pass the thread through the thread guide, pull the threader down, then return the lever to its original position, and your needle is ready to go.
Adjustable Differential Feed
Even with stretchy fabrics like knits and georgettes, you can easily create professional-level finishes by adjusting the differential feed. This feature allows you to fine-tune how the material is fed through your machine and helps to prevent puckering or distorting. It works by making the front and rear feed dogs move at different speeds.
Quiet Operation
While built for speed and power, the MO-2800 has a sound-reducing design that minimizes operating noise and produces less vibrations, giving you smoother stitches.
Easy Rolled Hem
The roll hemmer is fully integrated into the machine. Easily adjust your settings on the MO-2800 to create rolled hems. Simply press the rolled hem tension lever, flip the selection lever for overlocking/roll hemming, adjust the cutting width, and you are ready to go. The edge of the fabric will be automatically rolled over, producing a very narrow, fine seam or hem. Roll hemming is ideal for finishing edges on all delicate fabrics, such as evening clothes, lingerie, scarves, frills, curtains, or napkins.
Waste Collector
Keep your workspace tidy using the included waste collector. As you serge, your seam allowance trimmings will feed into the container. Empty when full or when you finish using the machine. You can also use the empty bin to hold your accessories when not in use.
Easy Thread Tension
Thread tension should be properly adjusted to suit the various types of work. The ideal tension setting for most fabrics and threads is between 3 and 5. However, this can vary quite considerably when special threads such as filament, woolly nylon, buttonhole twist (cordonnet), pearl yarn, or decorative threads are used. Only use decorative threads in the looper. The thread must move easily and without resistance through the looper's eye. Unlimited adjustments can be made from 1 to 9. To lower the tension, turn the dial downwards and rotate the dial upwards to increase the tension. It's recommended that you tune the dials by quarter or half number increments, then test sew and check the results.
