Invisible zippers, also known as concealed zippers, are commonly used in the center back of dresses, as well as in the side or back seams of pants, skirts, and various home décor projects. As the name suggests, this type of zipper is designed to be hidden within a seam, making it virtually undetectable. While many believe inserting an invisible zipper is a challenging task, it is actually one of the easiest zipper applications to master.

How to Use:

1. Prepare the Zipper and Fabric Always insert an invisible zipper before stitching the garment seam. Mark the zipper opening length on both the seam allowances and the zipper itself. Any excess zipper length should extend beyond the bottom of the opening.
2. Attach the Clear Invisible Zipper Foot Snap on the Clear Invisible Zipper Foot and select a center needle position straight stitch with a stitch length of 2.5–3.0.
3. Sew the Right Side of the Zipper Place the right zipper tape on the right seam allowance, aligning the coil with the seam line. The zipper should start about 3/4” (2 cm) below the fabric’s cut edge. Gently press the zipper teeth to the right and lower the presser foot, ensuring the coil is positioned in the right groove. Starting at the top, sew the zipper in place, stopping at the marked point on the zipper and seam allowance. Tie off the stitch.
4. Sew the Left Side of the Zipper Align the second zipper tape on the left seam allowance, ensuring both coils are even. Pin the zipper in place and unzip it. Lower the presser foot with the left groove over the zipper teeth and sew in the same manner as the first side.
5. Close the Zipper and Sew the Seam Close the zipper and align the fabric edges with the zipper right sides together. Pin the remaining fabric below the zipper.
6. Attach the Regular Zipper Foot Snap on Zipper Foot E, positioning it to the left of the needle. Adjust the needle position as needed.
7. Finish the Seam Open Sew the remaining seam from the lower edge up to the zipper, overlapping the previously backstitched seam.
8. Press the Seam Open Gently press the seam for a smooth, professional finish.

Tip: Choose an invisible zipper that is at least 1 1/4” (3 cm) longer than the zipper opening for easier insertion.
